Twenty-Mile Coal Mine
by Jesse

Colorado was first famous for its abundant natural resources, and it is still a huge producer of resources for this country. My dad has always been in manual labor, and has been working at Twenty-Mile Coal Mine for over a decade. The job is tough, and I know that he doesn't love it, but the benefits and the money that the job gives keep us economically well off. My dad works at the mine to make sure that my sister and I have a future, and he hopes that our futures will not be based on manual labor like his own. It is amazing that my father almost never complains about the mine and comes home with a grin and a great sense of humor. Routt County is full of mixed economic classes; some come to live here in their million dollar houses, some barely survive, but my father has ensured that we, my family, are all financially secure with his own sweat and blood, and I would like to thank him for that.
