Most people in the nation have never heard of Routt County, but many have heard of Steamboat Springs, Colorado. For some, Steamboat represents a winter vacation based in the Rocky Mountains where the Champagne Powder covers the mountainsides with a soft blanket of white gold. I live in Steamboat so I don't think of the mountain as a winter vacation, but sometimes the mountain is my personal weekend getaway. When I get the chance, I love to ski down the mountain's slopes over the blanket of white snow. It helps me to relax and get away from the world. Sometimes I bring some friends and we go to our favorite spots on the mountain, the little hideaways where we hangout together. Steamboat is a resort town designed to accommodate tourists who are on vacation, but I still get to enjoy it when I get the chance.
