Denver Area

Top
DENVER AREA - The quickest way to Denver is to head east on HW 40 over Rabbit Ears Pass. On the other side of Kremmling take a right on HW 9. Many are fooled into thinking HW 40 through Hot Sulpher Springs is the quickest, but although scenic takes about 30 minutes longer. When HW 9 runs into I-70 go east to Denver. Depending on your point to point this is about a 150 mile drive and 3 hours with only one quick stop

VAIL

Top
Vail is just under 2 hours on dry roads. For a scenic and the fastest route, head west on HW 40 just on the east side of Steamboat, go south on 131 through Oak Creek, Yampa and Wolcott. At Wolcott, go east on I-70 to Vail and Beaver Creek. The Eagle Airport is West of the Wolcott exit. Not to miss on the trip is the historic Antlers Cafe in Yampa, State Bridge and the Wolcott Store.

Salt Lake City Utah

Top
Head west on HW 40 out of Steamboat Springs and in about 6 hours you'll be in Salt Lake City. The road is mostly straight and 2 lane and boasts one of the largest deer and elk heards in North America - so be on the watch.

Grand Junction

Top
The route to Grand Junction is a toss up as to the fastest and most scenic...so take your pick.

Option 1:
Take directions to Vail above going out of the county south on 131 to Wolcott. At Wolcott jump on I-70 and head straight west to Grand Junction. This route might be a little longer but has more interstate highway.

Option 2:Head west on HW 40. On the west end of Craig go south to Rangley and Meeker. This road goes approximately 90 miles until you hit I-70 where you will be traveling west to Grand Junction. Lots of deer and elk - so beware.
