Household Hazardous Waste Disposal

The Routt County Department of Environmental Health offers a curbside household hazardous waste collection program. This service is available, once a year, to all residential households in Routt County for a nominal fee of $10.00.

To use this service call 1-800-HHW-PKUP (or 1-800-449-7587). You will be provided with information on how the program works, a special packing kit will be shipped to your home, and a pick-up date will be scheduled.

Donation of used things in our region

There are several places to donate your used items in our region:

Rummagers
in Steamboat Spring. West on HW 40 across from the Routt County Jail. Donations accepted 12:30 to 6 PM Tuesday through Saturday.

LIFT-UP Donation Center All donations are tax deductable Call 870-0727 for more details.

Salvation Army- if you are headed out of town there are Salvation Army Stores around Colorado.

Christmas Tree Recycling

The City of Steamboat Springs Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services will be accepting Christmas trees for recycling after Christmas and throughout the month of January. The location for tree drop off is the northwest corner of the Howelsen Ice Arena parking lot. Please remove all tinsel, lights, nails, decorations, ribbons, etc. Please no wreaths. The resulting mulch is given to residents and used in City Parks.
