Over the Hill Gang Guides

Every day, except Saturday, in cooperation with the Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation, two or more members of Steamboat’s Over the Hill Gang lead complimentary skiing at the Steamboat Ski Area. This program is available to anyone (local or visitor) over 50 years old. Skiing is done primarily on blue and groomed black trails, but bumps and trees will be skied if the guides judge that the group is capable of that.
To join the group all you have to do is show up at the base of the gondola by 9 AM. The group meets at the left side of Gondola Square as you face the mountain.
If 8:30 AM is the time that you consider getting out of bed, you can find the group at a table in the cafeteria from 11:45 to 12:30. They will be sitting near a motley flag and a big Over- the- Hill Gang sign. Just walk up and ask if you can join them. A typical guided ski day runs from 9 AM to 3:30 PM with time for lunch and breaks, but you can leave anytime you have had enough.

Members of Steamboat’s Over the Hill Gang who wish to ski or board at a more aggressive or mellow pace than the guided skiing are encouraged to make contact with other members of a similar skill level and form their own groups. REMEMBER – no one waits very long for a “friend” on powder days.

LOCAL’S CLINICS
The Steamboat Ski and Snowboard School conducts week long clinics (usually the first full week of the months from December through March) .These clinics are given at every skill level and include snowboard and telemark lessons. They are open to locals of any age but are particularly popular with OTHG members. Who else has so much time during the middle of the day ?
