Increasing recreational activities and demands upon the Yampa River over the last decade created the need for managing uses on and near the river to protect the health of this priceless resource. City Council authorized the preparation of a River Management Plan to ensure protection of the biological integrity of the river and manage recreational uses at sustainable levels.
The City hired EDAW Associates out of Fort Collins, Colorado to assist in the preparation of this plan. They will be working on the plan in conjunction with City staff, the Trails & River Committee and a Citizens Advisory Committee over the Spring, Summer and Fall of 2003.
For further information contact Craig Robinson, Open Space Supervisor, at 879-4300 or Bruce Meighen with EDAW at 970-484-6073.
Comments, recommendations and feedback on the Plan are highly encouraged. Please forward your recommendations to Craig Robinson at crobinson@steamboatsprings.net.
