Skiing and Snowboarding
In 1955, Jim Temple, son of a local ranching family, spearheaded the development of the Steamboat Ski Area in response to the growing popularity of the sport. Engineered and largely built by John Fetcher, the new hill opened in 1961 with one Poma lift. Today since its humble beginnings, the Steamboat Ski Resort has grown into one of the premiere resorts in the world.
Check with the Steamboat Ski Area for locals specials for learn to ski and other locals clinics as well as Season Pass prices.
