Every year during Be Kind to Animals Week the Animal Assistance League sponsors a story contest. Children from Kindergarden to 6th grade write stories about how they have been kind to animals. Each child receives an education packet and prizes with grand prize winners in each age group. A discussion of the essays and awarding of prizes is done by Cindy DelValle Routt County Animal Control officer and founding member of AAL.
