Pets - Small and Large>Animal Assistance League of NW Colorado>Craig Animal Shelter

The Craig Animal Shelter is located at McCandless Animal Hospital. We utilize a section of their boarding kennel to house animals that come in from Craig and the surrounding area. Having our shelter located at an animal hospital ensures that each animal is provided with any veterinary care that it may need and that we are adopting out healthy animals. All puppies and kittens arriving at the shelter receive vaccinations and all cats are tested for feline leukemia. The Craig Animal Shelter has a program in cooperation with our intermediate school called Lifesavers. Lifesavers is a group of fifth and sixth grade students and their teacher who visit the shelter weekly to photograph the pets available for adoption. The pictures are then taken to our local newspaper for publication. They also record a public service announcement for the local radio station. This group has been very dedicated for the last six years, even continuing their efforts through the summer months. Through their commitment many pets have been placed in wonderful new homes.

Adopting a friend

The Craig Animal Shelter makes every effort to match new owners with the right animals. We have an adoption questionaire for the potental adopter to fill out. If it will be a good match the new owner then fills out and signs an adoption agreement. Our adoption fees are $38.00 -$58.00.

From Highway 40 turn north on East Victory Way. East Victory Way will turn to the east. Continue east for approximately one mile. The Craig Animal Shelter and McCandless Animal Hospital are located on the south side of the road.
