Experience the thrill of watching the smartest dogs in the world show off their skills at the 5th Annual Steamboat Stock Dog Challenge. Showcasing some of the top border collies in the country, this is a sheepdog field trial where handlers, using only their voice and whistles, direct their dogs to guide sheep through obstacles in a field. Join us at the Stanko Ranch on Saturday, Sunday & Monday, August 31-September 1, and you'll be amazed when you see the incredible teamwork between handlers and their dogs, even when they are hundreds of yards apart!

The Stanko Ranch is only 3 1/2 miles from the Bud Werner Library on 20 Mile Road (aka CR33 or 13th St.) and you can drive or take an easy bike ride to the site.

Concessions are available for breakfast and lunch. Bring your own lawn chairs and shade. Dogs are allowed but MUST BE LEASHED AND QUIET. Spectators are free but donations are encouraged so we can keep holding this great event.

Check the entry list to make sure your dogs are entered correctly. It was last updated ________. We have allowed only 3 dogs per handler, 2 per division. Cancellations are allowed until August 15 but we ask you to notify us of changes as soon as possible to accommodate as many handlers as possible. As of now, we are limiting dogs to 75 per trial. Each handler has a number to show their place on the list.

Clinics and How to Get Involved
Ahhhhh relief!! [Click here to view full size picture] If you have a border collie or australian shepard and would like to learn about herding, you can join us at the Sasak Ranch for lessons. Carol Lucero, a judge and open handler, comes up from Ft. Lupton on a regular basis throughout the summer to teach beginners through advanced. You don't need any experience at all, just a desire to have the most fun you can have with a dog! Dates for summer, 2007 will be posted as soon as they are available. You can also join the Mountains and Plains Border Collie Association and get in on one of the many clinics held on the Front Range and Western Slope.

We need many volunteers to put on the dog trial and your help is greatly appreciated. Come to the meeting on August 10 and pick a job. We also need people ahead of time and you can call Marianne Sasak at 879-5214.
