The Barber and Beauty Shop was one of two barbershops in Phippsburg, but it was the one that people preferred to go and get a haircut or a makeover. One of the styles of haircuts that they did was the Marcel, which they used a curling iron to curl the hair of the person that wanted that specific hairstyle. The Lattens were the owners of the Barber and Beauty Shop. The Beauty and Barber Shop had a Pavilion-hipped roof. Today the building is a private residence and is hidden by a vertical wood fence. The shop served both women and men. It was a white wood sided building when it was in business. It also had a shingled roof. Now the house has light blue siding with a new roof. It is located on the northside of Routt Street.
The information was gathered with the help of The Historical Society of Oak Creek and Phippsburg (HSOCP). Dutch and Neva Ebaugh, Lila Rider, Markie Williams and Mike Yurich were invaluable resources for this project. This description was written by Dylan and JB, students at Soroco High School, in May of 2006.
