The Matthews house, which looks very much the same today as it did when it was built, is made out of wood with wooden lap siding and a brick foundation. It has a gabled roof. There are pillars in the front to support a porch roof. Stone steps reach the front door.

Walter "Spud" Branson, one time mayor of Oak Creek, built the house for John Matthews. Mrs. Myrtle Matthews still lives in the house.

Information gathered with the help of Mike Yurich of the Historical Society of Oak Creek & Phippsburg by Marc at Soroco High School, May 2004.
