Labor Day Weekend Activities
Dancing to the Music [Click here to view full size picture]
Over Labor Day weekend, visitors are welcome to come inside our new Tracks and Trails Museum to enjoy the exhibits; shop in our museum store for some of the many historical books, pamphlets, coins and cards; and hear many of the wonderful stories about the town of Oak Creek.

TOURS

In honor of the Centennial Celebration, tours will be offered both Saturday and Sunday. Sign up early for a spot at the Tracks and Trails Museum.

Oak Creek Town Tours
A brief history of the town will precede the tour of unique buildings around the town. A pamphlet detailing the history of almost 50 structures is part of the package.

Roadside Mine Tours

The first tour will take you up HWY 131 to Junction City. Guide explains the mines and camps.

The second explores the wagon and mines on County Road 27/29 and will include Foidl School at Twenty Mile Mine.

BBQ IN THE PARK

A Labor Day annual event is the BBQ in Decker Park on Saturday from 4-6:30 p.m. Homemade food and good down-home live entertainment provide an early evening pause. Children can play while adults visit. All proceeds go to the Historical Society. All are welcome.

MEMORIALS

Bucket Park next to the Museum on Main Street in Oak Creek is a memorial to coal miners. Explore the old equipment and enjoy the display case.

The Railroad Display in the Community Park in Phippsburg provides the history and importance of railroaders in our community.

You can purchase a brass memorial tag for either display at the Tracks and Trails Museum.
