Tim Walsh was born in Covington, Kentucky. During his early high school years he attended the Kentucky Military Institute. He moved to California when he was a junior in high school and then back to Kentucky to complete his senior year. This was the beginning of a series of moves for Tim. Tim developed a love of photography and in 1970 set up his own studio in Cincinnati. He specialized in pictures for album covers, for brochures for the city's symphony and ballet and as a photo illustrator in many other fields. His family had moved to Steamboat Springs and when Tim visited he fell in love with the area and moved to Steamboat Springs in 1972. He was the night auditor for the Holiday Inn for one year. Tim began his career in law enforcement in 1974 when he joined the Routt County Sheriff's Office as a deputy. He ran for election in November 1982 and took office in January 1983, serving two 4 year terms. After leaving the office of Sheriff in 1991 Tim moved to Hawaii to work as a Private Investigator.
