In 1993, the Oak Creek Hockey Association had a vision of bringing the game of hockey to Oak Creek. They started out with a frozen pond on a piece of property donated by the Town. In 1994, materials were contributed and many volunteer hours were spent to erect the boards around the rink, level the ground and build a small lean-to for the players. Additionally, that was the year the OCHA joined the Colorado Rocky Mountain Hockey League. In 1995, the Town was awarded a Great Outdoors Colorado grant to build the hockey hut. With matching funds from the Town, numerous volunteer hours and donated materials the foundation was laid.

Enduring thanks from the community of Oak Creek to all who contributed to this project.
