My Teen Life in Routt County
Students created scrapbooks by taking photographs and writing paragraphs exemplifying their personal response to what it means to be a teenager in Routt County, what is most important to them regarding their perceptions of people and places in Routt County, and what is unique about their perceptions and experiences in and around Routt County.
Growing Ideas and Understanding in Biology
A plant cart and plant growing supplies provide high school students with the opportunity to conduct hands-on investigations of plants including native and non-natice plants and their adaptations, growing nedia, plant structure and function and pollination.

FBLA Outreach Future Business Leaders of America
Students in Steamboat Springs and South Routt participate in activities together to create a positive relationship between the students in each community. Students in the “ski community” of Steamboat Springs and the “agricultural community” of South Routt create common goals and provide opportunities for social interaction, community service and competitive activities in the area of business.

Yampa River Ecology Project
The Yampa River Ecology Project serves 200-400 students from SoRoCo High School and Middle School, Steamboat Springs High School and Middle School plus first and second grade students from Soda Creek and Strawberry Park Elementary Schools in Steamboat Springs. Students learn about local natural areas including fish, wildlife, and vegetation. Routt County’s natural ecosystem will benefit from the stewardship projects.

ESL La Raza Youth Leadership Conference
Tenth Annual Anniversary Dance Showcase and Gala
This student-produced dance showcase involves over 100 students from Steamboat Springs High School in grades nine through twelve. The production is completely student run and funded, and the grant was requested by the student organizer of the event. As this is their tenth year, they hope to have a gala celebration along with three dance performances.
Link Coordinator Training
Funding will help offset the expense of training two Steamboat Springs High School staff members to coordinate the Link Program. The Link Program aids in the transition of incoming freshmen into the high school environment. Upper classmen are trained to be Link Leaders who work with individual Link Crews of up to ten freshmen in fun, powerful, positive activities. These activities serve many purposes, such as helping the freshmen make friends, learn important campus information, and consider many of the difficult choices, challenges, and responsibilities that are new to them. Additionally, these small Link Crew activities continue throughout the school year to further ensure the students’ successful transition and to offer a support network as needed.
Tri-County Alternative School Expeditionary Learning
At risk students from Hayden, Steamboat Springs and South Routt county schools will come together to participate in a variety of expeditionary activities including a trip to Estes Park for camping, hiking, and a half-day ropes course, a Thanksgiving dinner, a historic field trip (Tread of Pioneers Museum, Howelsen Hill snowshoe trip) and a nature hike/horseback trip near Steamboat Lake.
