Early Childhood Connection for Special Needs Children
|
Early Childhood Connection is a Federal Grant that ensures kids with special needs have services which they are entitled to under Federal law. In Colorado this connection operates under the umbrella of the Colorado Dept of Education.
Our region has a coordinator who makes sure that the special needs of any infant or toddler (age 0-3) or their families needs are meet.

- Provide information and support to families so you can focus on what’s important for your child and family.
- Ensure that families receive a free multidisciplinary evaluation.
- Provide each family with service coordination to connect you with supports and resources in the community to meet your child’s and families needs.
- Assist families in developing an individualized plan to address specific needs such as early intervention, transportation, daily learning, and supports to enable the child to have their needs met in community or daily activities.
- Assist in connecting your family with other families for parent to parent support.
- Explain and assure legal rights to families.

A service coordinator is someone who will work with you to seed services for your child and family to assist in coordinating with other professional care givers. Your service coordinator will be your key connection, in your community, for accessing supports and services your child and family need.

Early Intervention Opportunities

There are many options for enhancing your child’s development, such as: therapeutic support provided within your home or at community educational and recreational programs for infants and toddlers. Your service coordinator will assist you in creating a plan specifically designed for your child and family to take advantage of the available opportunities.
