A Pedestrian Recyling Unit (PRU) is an enclosure that houses newspaper racks and has slots for recycling items such as newspaper, magazine, junk mail, aluminum cans, and plastic and glass bottles. Yampa Valley Recycles goals for building this unit were to provide a place for recycling and to improve the appearance of the sidewalk. This PRU was built in 2007 by the Steamboat Springs High School Vocational Arts classes with donations from Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation. The pedestals and spacers were donated by Denver Newspaper Agency. The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association budgets funds for service and maintenance of this unit.
