A Pedestrian Recycling Unit (PRU) is an enclosure that houses newspaper racks and slots for recycling items such as newspaper, magazines, aluminum cans, junk mail, and plastic and glass bottles. Yampa Valley Recycles goal for building these units was to provide a place for recycling and to improve the appearance of the downtown area. This PRU was built in 2004 with a donation from Brown and Brown Insurance. Pedestals and spacers were donated by Denver Newspaper Agency. City Council budgets funds for the service and maintenance of the PRU.
