The Yampa Valley Astronomy Club, in conjunction with Professor Jimmy Westlake of Colorado Mountain College and the CMC Sky Club, will host a special lecture on Tues evening, 17 February, 2009, at 6:30 pm by Dr. Robert Ball. The topic is "Solar Eclipses and the Siberian Experience". The lecture will discuss the process of solar eclipses and why they are a rare event in most everyone's experience. He will then discuss information and present images from the solar eclipse of 1 Aug, 2008 from Novosibirsk (Siberia), Russia.
