Yampa Valley Astronomy Club

Welcome to the Yampa Valley Astronomy Club home page.

YVAC was founded in Jan. 2005 by avid amateur astronomers in Steamboat Springs and the greater Yampa valley. The club has been created to Venus & Moon on 3/7/09 by Scott Priceserve astronomers of all ages and experience levels. With dark skies, clear nights, and stable seeing, the Yampa valley is an incredible place to stare up into space for hours on end.

We are part of the Western Colorado Astronomy Net (WCAN) See the link below. All are welcome to browse their sites & attend events of interest. Contact Scott for WCAN's latest combined Astronomy Club Schedule.

2009 is the Year of Astronomy! Click here for more information.

Our last gathering was April 15th at Bristol Hall, Colorado Mountain College to attend a public program by CMC Professor Jimmy Westlake called “The Poets and the Stars.”

Our next event is a telescope workshop at the Bud Werner Memorial Library’s Community room from 6pm until close on May 19. Members and other amateur astronomers can come set up scopes and help others who may have questions or just want to dust off those scopes that have been in the closet all winter. This workshop will provide a one on one opportunity for anyone who doesn't know how to use their telescope.  You should bring your telescope and your questions. Interested parties may then want to set up for night viewing at another location. Contact Scott Price at 276-2162, sprice@amigo.net.
