Routt County 4-H has exchanged with other states for years. In the past Routt County 4-H youth have lived with other 4-H families from Vermont, Washington, Louisiana, Florida, Arkansas, New York, California and other states. Youth earn the opportunity to learn about the cultures, history and ways of life from other areas of our nation.
In 2009 the Routt County Exchange group will travel to Tennessee. When Routt County hosts Tennessee some of the activities might include rafting the Colorado River, visit our ski industry, swim in the hot springs, and learn about Routt County Agriculture.
Youth must be 14-18 years of age to participate.
Hosting Members
Routt County treats youth to the luxuries and way of life in the Rocky Mountains. In past exchanges 4-H members have white water rafted, taken a trip on the ski area gondola, went swimming in the hot springs, camped, and participated in cattle drives. 4-H youth learn the ways of the Yampa Valley, and enjoy the day to day living.
Traveling
Traveling is always exciting for our youth. Not once have we not had a youth that is experiencing his or her first flight. Youth learn cultures and lifestyles of youth from other areas on the nation. They live with host families for a week, and build friendships that last a lifetime.
