The YVMC Auxiliary
The Hospital Auxiliary provides service to Yampa Valley Medical Center to benefit the patients and community. Approximately 100 members volunteer for the Cookie Cart, Day Surgery Support, Kiddie Kuddlers, the annual Community Health Fair, the Help At Hand comfort service for ski season patients and families, Patient Advocate Volunteers and community blood drives.
The Auxiliary fundraisers include the annual YVMC Auxiliary Rubber Ducky Race held in September, and ongoing sales of the Steamboat Sampler watercolor print. The hospital features a beautiful interfaith chapel designed and furnished by the Auxiliary, playground equipment at GrandKids Child Care Center and lighted memorabilia boxes at the Doak Walker Care Center all of which came to be through fundraising by the YVMC auxiliary.
YVMC Volunteer Programs
Community Health Resource Center
Staffed by qualified volunteers, the center assists community members, physicians and YVMC staff in accessing the latest medical and health information. The resource center serves as a free lending library. It is stocked with books, medical reference texts, CD-Roms, video tapes, cassettes, medical letters and magazines.
What sets the center apart from a typical library is that our volunteers can perform up-to-date internet searches for patrons. In addition, they can provide assistance on how to search the Web for quality medical information.
