SNOWSHOEING WITH STEAMBOAT'S OVER THE HILL GANG

Do you want to avoid weekend lift lines on the mountain but still get out for some exercise and fresh air? Come join The Gang for Saturday morning snowshoeing. We usually have anywhere from 4 to 20 people and ALWAYS numerous dogs.

When: - Meet at 9:50 AM - Every Sat. morning
            - Form carpools quickly
            - Depart promptly at 10:00 AM

Where to meet: Safeway parking lot

Where do we go?: We will determine where to go either the Friday night or Saturday morning based on the weather, snow conditions, and group interest.  We usually hike between 2 and 4 miles.  The terrain varies from relatively flat in Pleasant Valley to quite hilly on the trails up on Rabbit Ears Pass. Be prepared for anything.

Never tried snowshoes? Not to worry, if you can walk, you can snowshoe. Several of the ski shops rent snowshoes.   We recommend waterproof boots, gaiters to keep the snow out of your boots, and ski poles. Dress in layers, as you might need to shed some as you get warmed up.   Bring sun lotion, water and a snack or a light picnic lunch.   A small backpack is handy to carry food, water and clothing layers that you have peeled off.
