The First Yampa River Festival was started in 1971 by several locals. The event has grown to national recognition drawing not only local competitors but those from all over the U.S.A. The festival now includes; kayak rodeo, slalom and undisputed crowd favorite, the Crazy River Dog Contest. There are also food and water sport vendors.
