Every Friday at noon, during July and August (check The Happenings) enjoy the Brown Bag Summer Lecture Series: History with the Locals. Speakers present various topics about our area. From outlaws, to ranch history, from local lore to local music, the Museum is the place to be in the summer.
Museum staff tape the lectures which are available for viewing. All lectures take place on Fridays, from Noon to 1:00 at the Tread of Pioneers Museum, 8th and Oak Streets, Steamboat Springs.

July 3 : Tread of Pioneers Museum’s past and present Board members celebrate “The Museum’s Past 50 Years with Behind the Scenes Memories.”
July 10 : World War II’s 10th Mountain Division legacy comes to life in the movie presentation of The Last Ridge.
July 17 : Local and national history is revealed in “Political Cartoons of the 1890s by cartoonist, William H. Walker,” presented by Kitty Ellison.
July 24 : Join State Historian Bill Convery to “Revisit the White River Incident: The Battle Between Nathan Meeker, the U.S. Army and the White River Utes.
July 31 : Bill McKelvie reminisces about “A Lifetime of Teaching Public School in Steamboat Springs.”
Aug. 7 : Chris Criswell tells “The Exciting History of the Lemmon and Criswell Families in Routt County.”
Aug. 14 : Mesa schoolhouse student and teacher, Harriet Aspegren, relives “Mesa Schoolhouse Golden Days.”
Aug. 21 : “Lulie Crawford’s Artwork Comes to Life,” presented by Crawford descendent, Nancy Rosi. Also, see Lulie Crawford’s character monologue and view her artwork from the museum’s collection. GREAT FOR KIDS!
Aug. 28 : Get tips on “Preserving Your Family Images on Film” from expert Gwen Scherer. Plus, view the museum’s newly digitized historic film footage.
Sept. 4 : Marsha Daughenbaugh the Executive Director of the Community Ag Alliance. Marsha will be speaking about "The History of Ranching in Routt County Yesterday and Today."
