The Three Forks Cemetery has also been referred to as the Gardner Cemetery. In the Colorado Cemetery Directory, they list another site on the Gardner Ranch. We have been unable to locate this site. Included at this site are the graves of Skaden, Corless and Gardner. Thomas S. Gardner was born Aug. 8, 1848 and he died on April 21, 1909.
Land records show that Edward Turner first got a homestead exemption in 1891. This was patented in 1911. Turner sold to Gardner in 1915 and then it was transferred to the Park Range Livestock Co. A one acre tract was deeded back to Kittie Gardner in 1915. There appears to have been a tax lien on this property and was not resolved until 1992.
This site is on private property and permission is required to access it. At the last visit to this site all of the fence was down and all of the headstones had been dislodged by cattle.
This site is very beautiful in the spring with a covering of many wild flowers. It sits high on a ridge over looking the valley and the Middle Fork and the North Fork of the Little Snake River.
