The Nelson/Pidcock Family Cemetery is located on the old Nelson homestead. There are at least four burials at this site and possibly more. The first burial appears to be Victor McLind. We are not sure as to his relationship, if any, with the Nelson family. John Nelson, the father, died in 1937 and is buried there. Edward Rollman was the son of Ernest Rollman and Mabel Julia Nelson, he died in 1940. The last marked burial was that of the daughter of Carl Nelson and his wife, Mattie Louise who died May 6, 1944.
From the size of the enclosure it is possible that there are other family members buried there. The fact that Mattie was the last to be buried there and she was buried outside of the larger enclosure leads us to believe that there are others buried in the larger fenced area.
This site has also been referred to as the Nelson Family Cemetery. The Nelson family and the Pidcock family are related so it took the name Nelson/Pidcock Cemetery.
Land records show John Nelson got his first homestead exemption in 1915 and that is was patented in 1919. He got a second homestead exemption, which included this burial site, in 1922. The patent on this land was not recorded until 1940. In 1940 the land was transferred to Andrew Nelson and in 1944 transferred again within the family. In 1951 Carl Nelson sold the land to E. C. Aspegren. In 1977 the land was transferred from Aspegren to Aspegren. We believe that Mr. Aspegren died and Helen remarried to a Conners. In 1980 Conners transferred the family cemetery to Carl, David and Marguerite Nelson. At this time they also received an easement to reach the cemetery.
