Colorado State Business Directory
Early Routt County Listings
Routt County was created in 1877 from Grand County and included the areas of current day Routt County and Moffat County. At that time, small communities were established across the county and included mining, ranching and agriculture interests. As communities were developed, businesses were established. Some of the businesses included saloons, dentist, doctors, hotels, mining companies, general merchandise, blacksmiths, attorneys, livery stables, postmasters and surveyors.
Early records for the development of these communities and some of the businesses and their owners are limited. Included in these pages are abstracted listings for some of the communities in Routt County in those early days. The information has been abstracted from early listings in the Colorado State Business Directories that were published in Denver, Colorado. The publishers include: J. A. Blake; J. R. Ives & Co.; C. A. Boland; Colorado Directory Publishing Co. and the Gazetteer Publishing Company.
Information compiled may include State and Federal officials, town listings, business listings, town officials, court information, railroad information, area, population, county officials and cattle and wool producers.
Note: This information is presented, as it was published at that time and includes references to Routt County, Colorado. Spelling and other possible errors from these directories have not been corrected. Some notes have been added for clarity.
