Optimist Motto: Bringing out the Best in Kids
The Steamboat Springs Optimist Club is seeking new members to serve the youth of Routt County. The club has been active in Steamboat since 1981 hosting annual events including the Optimist Fishing Derby and pancake breakfast, the Bike Safety Rodeo in cooperation with the Steamboat Springs Police Department, the Pumpkin Festival, and Teen-of-the-Month program mentioned below.
The Optimist Club of Steamboat Springs meets at "The Egg and I" restaurant at 7:00 a.m. on the first Tuesday of the month and at noon on the third Tuesday of the month

The local Optimist Club hosts the Pumpkin Festival every year, providing a morning of fun for local kids!

Teen of the Month
Each month the Club honors an outstanding Teen of the Month. A Teen of the Year, selected from among the Teens of the Month is awarded a scholarship. The Teen of the Month may be selected from any Routt County High School. Criteria include involvement in school, community or church as well as community service.
Literacy BUGS - Bringing Up Grades
Third graders at Strawberry Park and Soda Creek elementary schools who work especially hard to improve their reading skills are eligible to receive a Literacy BUGS award from the Optimist Club and Off the Beaten Path Bookstore. Third grade teachers select deserving students who receive an Optimist Literacy BUGS backpack and a gift certificate from Off the Beaten Path Bookstore.
