Pedestrian Recycling Unit (6th & Lincoln)

A Pedestrian Recycling Unit (PRU) is an enclosure that houses newspaper racks and slots for recycling items such as newspaper, magazines, aluminum cans, junk mail, and plastic and glass bottles. Yampa Valley Recycles goal for building this unit was to provide a place for recycling and to improve the appearance of the downtown area. This PRU was built in 2005 with proceeds from the 2004 Soup Bowl Supper sponsored by the Steamboat Clay Artisans. The pedestal and spacers were donated by Denver Newspaper Agency. City Council budgets funds for service and maintenance of the PRU.
