Leadership Program for Managers and Supervisors
 
 
The CMC Small Business Resource Center is pleased to offer the following seminars to enrich the skills and leadership abilities of Yampa Valley business people. These seminars may be taken as a series with a Certificate of Completion for participants who complete 5 of the 6 offered programs or they may be taken individually. The cost of this program series is $500. Individual programs are $100 each. Corporate discounts are available for multiple participants.

February 27th, Basic HR Tools for Managers and Supervisors.   Fee:$100,  Karen Goedert
Tips and Tools to help managers and supervisors handle basic human resource functions as hiring, employee relations, interviewing, payroll and terminations in order to run their businesses more efficiently and ensuring state and federal compliance.

April 17th, Building Trust-A Competitive Advantage. Fee:$100       Jill Anderson
Based upon the concepts of Stephen Covey’s, “7 Habits of Highly Effective People”, and Stephen M.R. Covey’s “The Speed of Trust”, participants discover that building trust with others is a competitive business advantage and an economic driver. In order to build trust, individuals identify the relationship between being personally trustworthy and building trust with others, and explore the natural law of production and production capability and how it relates to interpersonal relationships. Participants learn how to create and maintain effective relationships by making “deposits” in others “emotional bank accounts”.

June 19th, Coaching for Performance Improvement.  Fee:$100                   Karen Goedert
This important class focuses on the formal coaching and counseling of employees. It provides detailed information regarding progressive discipline and stresses effective communication. Discussion will center on using the important characteristics of top performers to recognize behaviors, effective communication styles and establishing performance improvement plans.

August 21st, Conflict Resolution.      Fee:$100,                   Jill Anderson
Participants take the Thomas Killman Conflict Indicator in class and identify how versatile they are in using 5 modes of conflict and become more aware of their own conflict style. By assessing conflict situations and recognizing the conflict styles of others, participants become more aware of choices they have in handling conflict situations. Group exercises allow participants to increase interpersonal skills by practicing the use of different conflict modes.

October 23rd, Stress Management.     Fee: $100,                Jill Anderson
Using the StressMap tool, participants accurately assess current stress strengths and vulnerabilities, enhance coping skills, and create a plan for achieving lasting behavior change, explore sources of stress and personal responses to them. The Map pinpoints your strengths and vulnerabilities, detects burnout zones and helps you chart new strategies for enhancing personal health and overall performance.

December 4th, Conducting Effective Performance Evaluations. Fee:$100,                        Karen Goedert
This course emphasizes the importance of completing and conducting formal employee performance reviews. It provides information on communication techniques for dealing with performance issues and teaches how to conduct appraisals that are fair and objective. Sample performance review will be created for your specific work environment.
