Malang Diatta was born and raised in Dakar, Senegal. Having a natural talent for dance, he had begun his professional dance education by the time he was 14 years old. Malang studied traditional West African styles under teachers from Guinea, Senegal, and Mali. His training, combined with his charisma on stage, led him to become a professional dancer and drummer with several touring dance companies including Koolam Serer Ballet and Ballet Afrique Noir. He currently lives in Colorado, where he continues to teach, choreograph, and perform.
