Routt County has a long history of supporting the arts—from the establishment of Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp in 1913, to the founding of Steamboat Springs Arts Council and Steamboat Dance Theatre, both in 1972, to Strings Music Festival (formerly Strings in the Mountains Music Festival), formed in 1988, to the recently formed Emerald City Opera. The Yampa Valley enjoys a rich and varied selection of high-caliber arts and cultural opportunities for both participants and audiences. Routt County is home to a number of artists and art galleries, as well as numerous dance, theatre and music performers and instructors. Whether your interest is performing arts, visual arts, literary arts or just something fun and new to do or see, you’re likely to find it right here in the Yampa Valley.
